They posted a profit after tax for the year of £6,431 This figure is after provisons of £36,423 relating to £9,737 for the FSCS Levy and £26,686for bad and doubtful debts. .
Management expenses as a % of mean total assets increased from 1.66% to 1.76%.

The Century Building Society posted a profit after tax for the year of £4,829 (2008 £3,075). This figure is after the reinstatement of a contribution of £41,663 to the FSCS and a provision of £67,402 for bad debts.
Management expenses as a % of mean total assets dropped from 1.59% to 1.55%.

The Century Building Society posted a profit after tax for the year of £3,075 (2007 £94,312). This figure is after the contribution of £70,000 it is required to make to the FSCS.
Total assets increased during the year by 7.89% and the mortgage portfolio increased by 11.79% (excluding provisions)
Management expenses as a % of mean total assets dropped from 1.66% to 1.59% which although an improvement is still over 3 times higher than for instance the Leeds Building Society.


History of the Century Building Society
The Century Building Society was established in 1899 and was originally called The New Edinburgh Investment Building Society. This was changed to the Century Building Society in 1946. Today Century is the smallest of the remaining 55 building societies in the United Kingdom and has one branch/head office.
