Darlington Building Society made a loss for the year after tax of £2,527,000 as against a profit the previous year of £1,503,000. This loss was after a provision of £697,000 for this years contribution to the fscs levy. Unlike some other building societies they have not chosen to accrue the payments due over the next 2 years into this years accounts. A provision of £3.4 million was made against the assets of the subsidiary Darlington homes.    At the end of the financial year they had 2 properties in possession. The total amount outstanding on loans where payments were 12 months or more in arrears was £360,000.   A further provision of £1,250,000 was made against a loan which they believe may be impaired.
