Firebox.com
was started in 1998 as hotbox.co.uk, by Michael Smith and Tom Boardman in Cardiff and with the success of the Shot Glass
Chess Set they moved in 1999 to London and opened as Firebox.com. In 2009 the firebox website had nearly
10 million visitors and generated sales of over 11 million pounds and employed 30 people.

year had revenue of £11,089,736 which was down 1.39% on the year before tax. Firebox made a loss for the year of £94,288
(2008 profit £22.854) after an exceptional item of £170,297 which was the result of moving into a new larger warehouse
and incurring costs on both the warehouses.
Turnover came from UK £10,314,045 (down 4.6%) Europe £ 623, 425 (up 68%) Rest of World £ 152,266 (up 75%)
