The National Counties offers a range of products. For savers the savings accounts include ISAs, Monthly Saver, Savings Bonds, 90 Day Notice and Instant Access Savings Accounts. On mortgages National Counties offers Owner Occupier Mortgages, Residential Investment Mortgages and Lifetime Mortgages. They also offer fixed rate and variable rate commercial lending.

National Counties Building Society made a profit after tax of £1,253,000 as against a profit of  £3,040,000 the year before.

During the year loan balances decreased by 6% and provisions were £9.6 million specific and £0.5 million for general future loan losses. At the year end there was 1 property in possession and 10 mortgage accounts in arrears by 12 months or more with loan arrears of £99,000. Savers balances increased by 1% to £911 million.

Management expenses to mean assets increased to 0.75% from 0.69%.

During the year 3 properties were repossessed and overall lending levels were only 60% of the year before another 13 mortgages were 12 months or more in arrears.

National Counties Building Society made a loss before tax for the year of £7,972,000 as against a profit the year before of £5,882,000. The figures include the estimated £1,623,000 that national counties will have to pay to the fscs levy over the next 3 years. £7,286,000 of provisions was also made relating to investments of which recovery was uncertain.
At the year end one property was in possession and a further six mortgage accounts in arrears by twelve months or more.
