The Principality Building Society was formed in 1860. Today the Principality building society has 50 branches and the Peter Alan and Parkhurst Estate Agents. The Principality Building Society is currently the largest building society in Wales.

 Financial Results Year Ended 31/12/2011
Profit for the year was £17,400,000. During the year 38,000 new members joined and 96.1% of mortgages were funded by customer deposits. The average loan to value of the mortgage book was 62.6% and 91 properties were repossed during the year. On the savings side 51.78% of all savings balances were fixed rate savings accounts.

Total directors remuneration for the year was £1,582,000

Principality made a profit for the year 23.2 million (10.8 million in 2009). During the year they lent out £943.8 million of new money and had 53 properies in possession. They added 52,000 new customers and savings balances increased by 2.1% to over £5 billion. 

Total directors remuneration for the year was £1,612,000.

Principality made a profit for the year 10..8 million (5.7 million in 2008) this is after 1.4 million charge for the FSCS levy and a 39.5 million impairment on loans and advances (31.7 million 2008) so like a lot of banks and building societies the principality saw a rise in the bad debt levels.
The Principality Building Society gained a total of 67,000 new savers and at the year end they had 48 properties in possession. The society had 1,049 employees and 51 branches as well as 23 estate agency branches.

Profit for the year 5.7 million (20.5 million in 2007) this is after 5.2 million charge for the FSCS levy and a 31.7 million impairment on loans and advances (6.5 million 2007) so like a lot of banks and building societies the principality saw a huge rise in the bad debt levels.
Society gained a total of 76,000 new members during the year and loan to value on mortgages was under 50% as of 30/06/2008
