Wickes History.

Wickes was founded by Henry Dunn Wickes in Michigan, USA in 1854 in 1972 Wickes Corporation along with British builders merchant, Sankeys opened the first UK store. In 2000 Wickes was bought by Focus Do it All who subsequently sold Wickes to Travis Perkins in 2005.

Wickes Financials and Information Year Ended 31st December 2010.

The Travis Perkins group as a whole had group revenue up 8% at £3,153m with adjusted profit before tax up 20% to £217m.  Wickes achieved like for like sales growth and improved operating profits in a falling market a remarkable performance, and a tribute to the attractiveness of Wickes as a no-nonsense home improvement retailer.

Wickes Financials and Information Year Ended 31/12/2009.

Wickes is part of Travis perkins plc and the group as a whole made a profit for the year ended 31/12/2009 of £157.4 million. The group as well as wickes and travis perkins includes keline, city plumbing, CCF, benchmark,  tile giant and toolstation.

Wickes gained market share for the third consecutive year in 2009 as more customers discovered the great quality and value proposition offered by the Wickes DIY own brand products. As Wickes has continued to strengthen its marketing capability, significant share gains have been achieved in a number of product categories. Most notably in K&B where Wickes have achieved more than their fair share of the opportunity presented by the failure of MFI due to investment in bathroom displays, strong ranging and competitive pricing.
