Yorkshire Building Society latest news
18.03.2011 Yorkshire Building Society today announces that it is in discussions with Norwich and Peterborough Building Society regarding the possibility of a merger. These discussions are subject to completion of full and satisfactory due diligence, which will take a number of weeks to complete, and the satisfaction of certain pre-conditions.

Yorkshire Building Society Financial Results Year ended 31 December 2010.
Yorkshire Building Society made a profit of £91.8 million after tax for the year. This was after a 3.6 million provision for the fscs levy and a further £45.9 million of provisions for impairement of loans and advances and debt securities and provisions for liabilities. 
The percentage of loans 3 months or more in arrears was the same as in the previous year at 1.84%.
At the year end there were 135 Yorkshire branches, 35 Chelsea branches, 8 Barnsley branches and 82 Yorkshire agencies.

Yorkshire Building Society made a loss of £3.3 million after tax for the year. This was after a 2.7 million provision for the fscs levy and a further £58.5 million of provisions plus costs of £6.7 million regarding the merger with Chelsea.
 
The percentage of loans 3 months or more in arrears increased to 1.84% from 1.59%.

The solvency ratio increased to 15.6% from 14.8%.

Yorkshire Building Society made a profit of £8.8 million after tax for the year. This was after a £14.7 million provision for the fscs levy and a further £24 million of provisions (8.9 million 2007) 
1.59% of mortgages were 3 months or more in arrears.
